ASPS Journal

The ASPS Journal is found at aspsjournal.org. It consists of 4 stories, with the ability to add new issues and to edit stories as needed.

Adding New Issues

To add a new issue of the ASPS Journal, login and click on EDIT. At the bottom of the page, click ADD A NEW ISSUE. This takes you to the ADMIN portion of the website where you will click ADD to open a record for the new issue.

In the DETAILS tab, you will enter a NAME for the issue, a PUBLISH DATE, and upload logos to appear in the SPONSORS PANEL. You will enter each story in the tabs CASE OF THE MONTH, COMPLICATIONS, LEGAL CORNER and RESIDENCY CORNER. In each tab you will select the AUTHOR (if any) from the drop down menu, type the HEADLINE for the story, enter the COPY for the article and upload an IMAGE (if there is one). After you enter this information for all of the stories, click OK to save the new issue.

Editing the Current Issue

If you need to edit anything in the current issue click on EDIT THIS ISSUE at the bottom of the page. This will open the record for the current issue where you can edit anything listed in the instructions above.

If you want to view an issue other than the current issue, you can choose an issue from the drop down at the bottom of the page in the field "Select an issue to view".

NOTE: The Current Issue is the one with the latest publish date that is NOT beyond the current date.


ASPS Member News

The ASPS Industry News add-on consists of news stories that you can display on the website and also create an email version to send to members. You can choose how many articles you want to show up on the Industry News webpage and in the email.

How to Install the ASPS Industry News Add-On

How to Add the ASPS Industry News to a web page

When you are on the web page where you would like the Industry News to appear and are logged on as an Administrator, you will select the EDIT option from the menu. Next, click the paper/pencil icon. This will take you to the Edit record for your page.

On this screen put your cursor in the Copy box, click on the Add-on drop down menu and select ASPS Industry News. An image with the Contensive logo will appear in the Copy Box. Click OK at the top of the page to save the add-on to your webpage.

After you click OK, you will return to the webpage with the Industry News, where you will see the following:

From this screen you will see the admin links to manage the newsletter. The links allow you to edit the newsletter settings, add or edit stories, or create an email version.

Add/Edit an Article

To add a story you can click on the ADD AN ARTICLE link, which is located directly after the last article shown. This will open a blank story record where you can name the story, type the story copy, and upload an image to appear next to the article. Stories will appear in the order they were entered, with the most recent article displayed first. When you have entered all information, click OK to save the new article. After you have saved your story, you can edit any of the information by clicking the paper/pencil icon next to the title for the article you want to edit.

Email ASPS Industry News

To email the latest industry news simply click on the CREATE EMAIL VERSION link on the Industry News page. This will create a group email that contains the Industry News as the content for the email. In the group email record you simply add a subject line and choose who the confirmation email will be sent to. Next click on the SEND TO GROUPS TAB and check the groups who you would like to receive the email. Click SEND TEST to review the email and then once you are satisfied with the way it looks in the test email, you will click SEND to send the latest industry news to the specified groups.

Edit Settings for Industry News

To edit the ASPS Industry News settings, click on the EDIT INDUSTRY NEWS link. This will open the record for your newsletter, where you can change the text for the subhead and footer, and you can also specify how many articles should be displayed on the webpage and email. Click OK to save changes.


Doctor Search

On the ASPS website, you are able to search for doctors by name, state or zip code. When searching by zip code, all doctors within will be returned in the search.

Adding Doctors to the Search

Doctors are included in the Doctor Search as long as they are members of ASPS and belong to any group specified for the Doctor Search. To specify which groups you want included in the Doctor Search, login and go to ADMIN. Click on ASPS and then DOCTOR SEARCH GROUP RULES. To add a group to this search, click on ADD. Type in the name of the record and select the group from the drop down list. Click OK to save changes.

Deleting Doctors from the Search

To delete a doctor from the Doctor Search remove them from the group specified for the Doctor Search. To accomplish this, login and click on ADMIN. Click on MANAGE USERS, PEOPLE, and then find the doctor you want to remove from the search. Click on the paper/pencil icon next to the name. When you open the record, click on the GROUPS tab. Click on the check mark next to the current group to eliminate the check mark and remove the doctor from the group. Click OK to save changes.

Editing Information about a Doctor

Doctors can edit the information that appears in the doctor search, such as address, specialties and contact information, by logging in and going to their profile form. When they are done making changes, they will click on the UPDATE button.

Changing The Distance for a Zip Code Search

To specify the distance of doctors that will be included in a zip code search, login and go to ADMIN. Click on SETTINGS, ADVANCED and the SITE PROPERTIES. At the bottom of the screen in the name field type in ASPS DOCTOR SEARCH RADIUS and click FIND. Click the paper/pencil icon next to the record to open it. In the VALUE field type in the number of miles you want included in the search radius for a particular zip code. Click OK to save your changes.


Adding/Editing Events

To add events to the Upcoming Events List, go to the home page where the events are listed.

To add or edit events, login and click on EDIT. You will see the following screen:

To add an event click on the +, or click on the paper/pencil icon next to the event you want to edit.

This will open up an event record where you will enter the event name, dates, detailed information about the event and a web page link (if you have one). You can also have this event repeat periodically by going to the RECURRING EVENT tab. Click OK to save your changes.


Adding/Editing Slider Images and Text

ASPS will be able to edit text on the slider and add new pictures as needed to promote pages, events, and other items on the website. This feature is located on the ASPS Homepage and would act as online membership brochure.

Adding New Pictures

To add additional pictures to the image slider, login and click EDIT. Underneath the current pictures you will see a +. Click on the + to open a new image slider record. Here you will name the record, upload the image, type in the text you want to display over the image and underneath the image, and a link to another page, if you want one. Click OK to save the new record.


Editing Text and Images

To edit existing pictures or text, login and click ADMIN. Click on MANAGE ADD-ONS, IMAGE SLIDER2 and then IMAGE SLIDER IMAGES. You will see a list of all images currently available on the site. Click the paper/pencil icon next to the one you want to change. Click the CHOOSE FILE button to change the image. You can also type in new text or add or change the page that this image links to. Click OK to save changes.

Note: If you don't want an image to display in the slider anymore, click on the ACTIVE check mark to make the record inactive. It will no longer display in the slider, but it will be available to add back later by clicking on the ACTIVE field again.
