[hide]Purpose
The Distance Learning add-on enables you to create and post multiple choice quizzes to your website. The quizzes are submitted electronically and graded automatically, with results available immediately.

How to Add a Quiz
When you are logged on as an Administrator, you will go to the page where you want to put the quiz and click EDIT. Click on the paper/pencil icon and put your cursor in the copy box. Go to the ADD-ONS in the menu above the copy box. Select ONLINE QUIZ from the drop down. Click OK to save changes.
To select a quiz already in your system, click on ADVANCED and when you see the menu for the Online Quiz, click on the wrench and select the quiz from the drop down menu. Click UPDATE to save changes.
If you want to make a new quiz, click on "Create a new quiz." at the bottom of the page. You will then see the DISTANCE LEARNING PORTAL:
To add a new quiz, enter the quiz name and click + ADD NEW QUIZ.
Next click on the name of the quiz you just added.
Click on the SETTINGS Tab and enter the following information:
- QUESTION PRESENTATION
- Choose ONE QUESTION PER PAGE, ALL QUESTIONS ON ONE PAGE or ONE SUBJECT PER PAGE.
- ALLOW USERS TO RETAKE QUIZ
- Check this box to allow users to retake quiz and leave it unchecked if users can only take the quiz once.
- MAX QUESTIONS TO DISPLAY
- Use this field if you have a large number of questions available but only want to display a certain number of them for each quiz.
- INCLUDE SUBJECTS
- If you wish to organize your questions by subject, enter the subject in the text box one subject per line. If this quiz has no sections for different subjects, leave blank.
Click SAVE to save changes.
Click on the START PAGE Tab and enter the following information:
- START PAGE TEXT
- This is the list of instructions that goes on the Start Page. You can describe the quiz, its purpose, how to take it, etc.
- COURSE MATERIALS
- Here you upload a file with study materials for the course, if available.
- START QUIZ BUTTON
- Put the text you want displayed on the button in order to start a quiz.
Click SAVE to save changes.
Click on the QUESTIONS Tab and then click ADDQUESTION to add your first question:
- QUESTION
- Type the question in this field.
- POINTS
- Put in the number of points earned for a correct answer on this question.
- ANSWER #
- Enter the answer options in ANSWER fields 1-4, and place a check next to the correct answer.
- SUBJECT
- If your quiz included different subject sections, select the subject for this specific question.
- QUESTION INSTRUCTIONS
- ??
Click SAVE to save changes.
Click on the SCORING tab to enter the following information:
- PERCENTILE
- Enter the percentile earned, whether that percentile is a passing grade and the caption displayed with that score. So in the first box you may enter 90 for percentile, check the pass box and type A in for the caption.
- ADD CECs
- If passing this quiz grants CECs, enter the number of CECs and select the CERTIFICATION TYPE.
- ADD CERTIFICATE
- If passing this quiz earns a CERTIFICATE, select the CERTIFICATE TYPE.
- SUCCESS MESSAGE
- Check the box and enter text you want to display if someone passes the quiz.
Click SAVE to save changes.
NOTE: If the quiz is on a page that requires login, users will be able to SAVE the quiz and come back later to finish it. If you want them to be able to do this, you must put the quiz on a page that requires login. Also, if you need information on who took the quiz and what scores they got you also must have the quiz on a blocked page that requires login.
How to Edit Quizzes, Subjects, Questions & Answers
When you are logged on as an Administrator, you will click ADMIN, MANAGE ADD-ONS, DISTANCE LEARNING. Next click the name of the quiz you want to edit, make changes and click SAVE to save changes.

Spreadsheet Setup for Question and Answer Import
Develop a spreadsheet in Excel or another spreadsheet program and export it to a CSV file.
The columns should be set up in the following order:
- Subject
- The subject area for a specific question. If subjects are not included on the exam, leave the fields in this column blank.
- Answer
- The correct answer letter for a specific question.
- Question
- The specific question for the quiz.

- B
